Types of Labels

What types of labels do Soabar print?
We print a wide range of labels for various industries. Whether for clothing, food packaging, pharmaceuticals, or warehousing, we have a solution for you. Our offerings include:

  • Self-adhesive labels (ideal for product packaging)
  • Wash care labels (printed on nylon, polyester, and other materials)
  • Swing tickets and barcode labels (with sequential numbering)

What materials do you print on?

We provide a variety of label materials for your needs:

  • Self-adhesive labels: Card, polypropylene, tamper-evident materials, satin substrates
  • Wash care labels: Polyester, nylon, and other fabrics
  • Swing tickets: Primarily printed on card

What about barcodes?
We can print barcodes on labels for you. However, many of our customers prefer printing their own using thermal printers. The printer will come with software to generate barcodes, and we’ll guide you through the process during installation.

Do you print woven labels?
Currently, we do not print woven labels.

Temperature and Chemical Resistance

  • Chemical labels can withstand temperatures up to 95ºC and chemicals like toluene, xylene, and acetone.
  • Most of our labels are resistant to 95ºC exposure.

Can I order waterproof/weatherproof labels?
Yes, we offer waterproof and weatherproof labels to ensure durability in tough conditions.

Printing

What is thermal transfer printing?
Thermal transfer printing uses a thermal ribbon to transfer the print onto the substrate. This is ideal for high-quality prints that need to last.

What is direct thermal printing?
In direct thermal printing, the heat from the print head directly reacts with the substrate (usually thermal paper) to create the printed image, eliminating the need for a ribbon.

In what format do you need the artwork?
Please send your artwork in either a PDF or JPEG file format for easy processing.

Can you print custom designs?
Absolutely! If you have a unique label design, we are happy to print it. Simply provide the details and quantity, and we'll give you a quote.

What colours can I print with?

  • We can print any colour for paper labels.
  • For satin labels, the colour choice may be limited due to foil costs, but we can source foil colours if necessary for larger orders.

What core size will be used for a roll of labels?
The standard core size is 3 inches, however if you require this to be larger or smaller then that is fine too. Just let us know when placing your order.

What colours can I print with?
On paper labels the choice is unlimited, but with satin/textile labels then the choice is more limited. This is due to the price of purchasing the required foil. If you are ordering a quantity of labels that would make this economically viable, then we are more than happy to do this. Please just enquire using the form.

Choosing the right label for me

Do you have a price list or catalogue?
No, we don’t publish a price list for all products, as most orders are bespoke. Prices depend on quantity, size, colour, and customer specifications. We do have brochures available that list standard products and machines.

What if I can’t find what I want on your website?
If you can’t find what you need, we can still help. Please get in touch via the enquiries form on our website, and we’ll assist you with your requirements.

Do you supply label samples?
Yes, we can provide samples. You can easily request them using the enquiries form on our website. For specific label samples, please send over your artwork to our design team.

How can I get samples and/or brochures?

Can you design a label for me, and is there an additional charge?
Yes, our design team can create custom labels for you. There is an additional charge for this service, which will be included in your order quote.

Printing my own labels

Do you print labels for customers, or do I have to buy a machine?We offer both options. You can either buy a machine to print the labels yourself, or we can print them for you in our factory and overprinting department.

How do I print onto the labels?
To print onto labels, you will use a thermal or direct transfer label printing machine. If you purchase a machine from us, our technical department will install it for you and provide training on how to use the machine and software. If you need assistance in the future, you can contact our technical department for help.

Would it be more cost-effective for me to buy a machine or have you print them for me?
It depends on your requirements, such as the volume of labels and how variable the text will be. If you have a lot of variable information (e.g., different text/images per label), purchasing a thermal printer is often more cost-effective. We can pre-print most elements of the labels for you, leaving you to add the variable details. However, if you need large quantities of the same label, it may be more cost-effective for us to print them for you. Contact us for advice tailored to your situation.

What price do the machines start at?

My machine isn't working properly, what should I do?

Quantities

What's the minimum number of labels that I can order?

Our minimum order number is 1000 labels.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes, we do. Our quotes include volume-related price breaks, meaning the more you order, the lower the unit price per label.

How much do you charge per label?

Ordering and Enquiries

I have been quoted a price for some labels and now wish to order. What should I do next?

If artwork is required for your label design, please send it to us as soon as possible. Once this is done (or if no artwork is needed), get in touch with the sales team to place your order.

Is VAT included in the price of a quotation?

No, VAT is not included. All prices will be quoted plus VAT, which is 20% of the order price.

I'm having trouble with/setting up my printer. Who should I contact?

What should I expect to happen after I have made an enquiry on your website?

What label specifications do I need to know before asking for a quote?

To get a quote, please provide the following details: the label size, colours, quantity, and the material you'd like the labels printed on. If you need a machine quote, let us know the model and label type (e.g., self-adhesive, satin).

Can you hold stock of annual orders?

Yes, we can. Just inform us if you require this service.

Delivery

How long will delivery take?

For standard orders, delivery is typically within 7-10 working days.

How will you deliver my order?

Your order will be delivered by one of our carriers, unless otherwise specified.

Can I track the delivery of my order?

You cannot track the delivery online, but you can call us at 0116 284 7000, and we’ll update you on the delivery status and expected date.

Do you offer express delivery if required?

Yes, we can offer express delivery. Just let us know when placing your order.

Do you ship labels overseas?

Yes, we do. Please inform us when placing your order if shipping is required internationally.

No, delivery is charged separately based on the quantity, weight of labels, and delivery method (express or standard).

Payment

After my first order, do I have to pay upfront for the next job?

No, you don’t have to pay upfront. We will set up an account for your company, and all orders within 30 days will be charged at the end of this period.

Can I open a credit account with you?

Do you send out pro-forma invoices?

Yes, we do send out pro-forma invoices.

How do you send out your invoices?

We send invoices via email, but we can send a paper version if you prefer.
