Soabar Prints: Vape Labels

Whether you are a seasoned juice maker or a newcomer to the industry, the world of vape labelling can be a maze. Between the oily nature of the products and the ever-shifting landscape of UK and EU regulations, your labels need to do a lot of heavy lifting.

In the current market a great label isn't just about looking good—it’s about staying legal while standing out on a shelf. Here is everything you need to know about designing and printing the perfect vape label.

1. Compliance: The "Must-Haves" for 2026

Compliance isn't the most exciting part of design, but it’s the most important. In the UK and EU, the rules are strict.6

UK (TRPR) & EU (TPD) Basics:

  • Nicotine Warnings: If your product contains nicotine, you must include the standard warning: "This product contains nicotine which is a highly addictive substance." In the UK, this must cover at least 30% of the two largest surfaces of the unit pack.

  • Ingredients & ECID: You must list all ingredients (PG, VG, nicotine, and flavourings) and include the product's unique ECID number (European Community Identification).

  • Tactile Warnings: To assist the visually impaired, labels for nicotine-containing liquids must feature a raised tactile warning triangle.

  • The 2026 Update (UK Duty Stamps): As of October 1, 2026, the UK has introduced the Vaping Products Duty.New labels must now accommodate an 18mm x 42mm duty stamp. If you aren't leaving space for this in your design, you're going to have a headache come autumn!

Capacity Restrictions:

  • Nicotine-containing liquid: Maximum bottle size is 10ml.

  • Nicotine strength: Capped at 20mg/ml.

  • Shortfills: These can be larger (50ml, 100ml, etc.) because they are nicotine-free at the point of sale, but they still require clear ingredient labelling.

2. Materials & Finishes: Durability is King

Vape juice is notoriously greasy. If you use a standard paper label, one leak will turn your branding into a soggy, unreadable mess.

  • Polypropylene (PP) & Vinyl: These are the gold standard. They are waterproof, oil-resistant, and won't smudge when handled with juice-covered fingers.

  • Gloss Laminate: High shine, high protection. It makes colours pop and provides a "wipe-clean" surface.

  • Matte Laminate: For a premium, "boutique" feel. It’s sophisticated and reduces glare under shop lights.

  • Spot UV & Foiling: If you want to highlight your logo or a specific flavour profile, adding a tactile gloss (Spot UV) or a metallic foil can make a £10 bottle look like a £50 premium experience.

3. Sizing: Common Industry Standards

Getting the size right ensures your label wraps perfectly without overlapping your "window" (the gap where users check their juice level).

Bottle SizeCommon Label Dimensions
10ml (TPD Bottle)32mm x 64mm or 35mm x 61mm
30ml (Chubby Gorilla)40mm x 100mm
60ml (Shortfill)80mm x 90mm or 50mm x 115mm
100ml/120ml80mm x 135mm

54. Our Speciality: Peel and Reveal Labels

This is the part that we love. The biggest challenge with vape labels is fitting all that legal text, ingredient lists, and multi-language instructions onto a tiny 10ml bottle without ruining the design.

Peel and Reveal (Multi-layer) labels are the ultimate solution.

Why choose Peel and Reveal?

  • Space Efficiency: You get up to three times the printable area. Your branding stays clean on the front, while the "boring" legal stuff is tucked neatly inside.

  • Multi-Lingual: Selling in both the UK and the EU? You can include English, French, and German instructions all on one label.

  • Sustainability: It eliminates the need for a separate cardboard outer box or an instruction leaflet, reducing your packaging waste and costs.

We specialise in high-tack, easy-peel layers that don't lose their "stick" after the first open, ensuring your customers can always access the safety info they need.

5. Eye-Catching Design Tips

  • Colour Coding: Use consistent colours for flavour profiles (e.g., yellows for citrus, blues for menthol). This helps "vape-shop fatigue" where customers are overwhelmed by choices.

  • Legibility: Use sans-serif fonts for your legal text. If the Trading Standards officer needs a magnifying glass to read your nicotine content, you’re doing it wrong.

  • Branding vs. Compliance: Treat the "Nicotine Warning" as a design element. Don't fight it—frame it.
