Unwind or feed direction describes how labels are oriented as they leave a roll. It tells the printer, dispenser or automatic applicator which label edge appears first and whether the printed face is wound to the outside or inside. The same artwork can be correct visually but unusable on a line if the roll is wound in the wrong orientation.
