Celebrating Soabar’s EcoVadis Bronze Medal Achievement
We’re proud to announce that our company has been awarded a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis, recognizing our commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. This means that we are in the top 35% of small print companies when it comes to our environmental and social governance.
This achievement represents an important milestone in our sustainability journey, and we’re excited to share what this means for our organization and our stakeholders.
What is EcoVadis?
EcoVadis is one of the world’s most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings. They evaluate companies based on their performance across four key areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
The EcoVadis methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and ISO 26000. Their detailed assessment process evaluates policies, actions, and results, providing companies with a scorecard that highlights strengths and areas for improvement.
Why We Decided to Pursue EcoVadis Certification
Our journey toward EcoVadis certification began when several of our larger customers started inquiring about our sustainability practices. As sustainability becomes increasingly important in business relationships, many of our ke
y partners were looking for verification of our environmental and social practices through a recognised third-party assessment.
Rather than seeing this as a box-checking exercise, we embraced the opportunity to formalise our sustainability efforts and benchmark our performance against global standards. The EcoVadis assessment process offered us a robust framework to evaluate our current practices and identify areas where we could make meaningful, long-lasting improvements.
The Path to Bronze: What We Did to Achieve Our Medal
The EcoVadis assessment process was rigorous and comprehensive. To achieve our Bronze Medal, we:
- Documented our existing sustainability policies and practices
- Gathered evidence of our environmental initiatives, labor practices, ethical standards, and procurement procedures
- Completed a detailed questionnaire covering all aspects of corporate social responsibility
- Provided supporting documentation to validate our responses at every stage of the questionnaire
- Underwent a thorough evaluation by EcoVadis analysts
Throughout this process, we discovered both strengths to celebrate and opportunities for growth. The structured nature of the assessment helped us identify gaps in our sustainability framework and develop action plans to address them. This action plan includes quantifiable targets, for example with regards to data collection which will allow us to calculate our carbon footprint.
What Our Bronze Medal Means
Earning a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis places us among the top 35% of print companies assessed by EcoVadis globally. This recognition:
- Validates our commitment to responsible business practices
- Strengthens our relationships with customers who prioritise sustainability in their supply chains
- Provides us with a roadmap for continuous improvement in our sustainability journey
- Differentiates us in the marketplace as a company that takes its environmental and social responsibilities seriously
While we’re proud of this achievement, we see it as just the beginning of our sustainability journey with EcoVadis. The insights gained through the assessment process has already informed our sustainability strategy moving forward, with clear goals to enhance our performance across all evaluation areas.
Looking Ahead
With our Bronze Medal as a foundation, we’re now setting our sights on advancing to Silver in our next assessment. We’re implementing more robust sustainability initiatives, cutting our energy usage and obtaining our energy from renewable sources. We are also going to be updating our environmental policy and delivering more training on important topics that affect the entirety of the workplace.
We want to thank our team members Nisha, Robert and Tom who contributed to this achievement, and our customers who helped to motivate this important step in our sustainability journey. Together, we’re building a more responsible and resilient business for the future.
