The Nichols’ Isle of Wight Challenge- Day 4
Posted on 17/11/2016 in Company News, by Jon
The penultimate day of the Isle of Wight Challenge is upon us! Amidst the mud, hills and water, Jon, Sophie and Molly edged that little bit closer to walking the final leg of their journey and most importantly- jumping in the hot tub waiting for them at the end! Day 4 saw them walking between Totland and Shalfleet, which provided them with stunning views and therefore beautiful photographs for us!
Here’s what Jon had to say about yesterday’s adventure:
“Day 4. Tough going, the blisters are starting to become painful especially now that I have another blister underneath a blister which popped! It’s not looking good! Stopping half way through the walk to get the first aid kit out to re-bandage my foot was interesting! The walking today was tough going again but there were some beautiful views and scenery. My legs feel like jelly and I feel like I’ve done a few rounds with Mike Tyson! But other than that we’re ready for day 5 and the final day of our walk back to where we started in Cowes. I can’t wait to sit in the heated leather seat and drive in comfort to a hot tub! In the mean time though, feel free to donate to two great charities.
There were lots of up and down hills in addition to lots of mud and water. Of course for Molly that is heaven but for us slipping and sliding around it wasn’t quite as much fun! We also passed the RNLI in Yarmouth today which is a great charity too. Tomorrow’s weather isn’t looking the best though. It is forecast rain and wind for the day so those waterproofs which we have now carried 60 miles may well finally get used!”
The accumulation of blisters, wind, mud and hills sounds enough to make anyone shy away from such a challenge- but not these three musketeers! The end is now in sight, and I’m sure you’d all agree that they’ve done remarkably well to walk such long distances for 5 consecutive days.
If you’re just as in awe of their efforts as me, then please donate to one of their three chosen charities via their Just Giving page. These are the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support and East Midlands Labrador Rescue, and all are organisations which mean a great deal to Sophie, Jon and Molly. Additionally, please show your support on our Facebook page or on Twitter.
As you’re reading this they will be walking the final leg of their journey from Shalfleet to Cowes. If getting to the end isn’t enough encouragement, you’re words of support will mean that they finish their adventure on a high.
We wish Jon, Sophie and Molly the best of luck on the final day of their challenge.
Please check back tomorrow for the final instalment of ‘The Nichols’ Isle of Wight Challenge’!
